This picture has always been very special to me because Daddy was stationed in Japan during the occupation of Japan in 1947 and we went over to join him. We traveled on the USS Funston and joined him living in Camp Zama. My sister, Sandy and I were worried that Santa Claus would not find us in Japan so Daddy got some brick like paper, completely disassembled a bookcase and made a "fireplace" for our stockings so Santa would find us; it was a very special Christmas to Me.

This pic was taken May 17, 1956 with the first camera I ever owned, a brownie 620. It was taken in the only home my parents ever owned on Alton Ave in Seattle Wash. This picture is such a favorite of mine because they are so relaxed and happy and unposed. Most of the time we lived in Army housing and on Army bases or in rentals.
